You anti-porn Christians live in this box where you fail to see other people's struggles outside of your own experiences. 1. Some men have small penises and can't perform sexually. Or, they could have been in an accident. They could be good looking everywhere else, 6'4, athletic build, chiseled face, but with an unusable penis. They abstain from getting into relationships, because they know, eventually, she's going to want sex, and he can only stall for so long; or, she may eventually cheat on him, because the man isn't able to fulfill her needs. Porn gives him an outlet. 2. A man could be sexually-attracted to younger women with ideal bodies, but not women in real life. He's a germaphobe, and doesn't like bodily smells. An average woman on his bed isn't sexually-appealing to him, but the same situation by professional porn actresses, with fit bodies, bleached in the right spots, hair removal in the crack, no blemishes/visible pores, is much more satisfying. And, the man doesn't have to smell them through the screen. Women in real life fart and secrete gross things. Some men can't maintain an erection with that. Porn gives them an outlet. You just assume that porn is a temptation for men (and women) who are overly horny, but what about people who look to porn to *feel* horny at all? Being anti-porn Christian assumes, because of your limited scope, that men even have a spouse from whom they can easily get their temptations satisfied, let alone, being able to satisfy them.

There is only one way to defeat lust or sin in general - and that’s God’s way. Taking every thought captive is right and good and biblical - but may seem exhausting to someone without a full understanding of the gospel. Because although the law (God’s commandments) is good, it’s purpose is to bring the knowledge of sin, for all have sinned and there are none righteousness before God according to the flesh. For it is impossible for those in the flesh (in the self) to submit to God’s law. But Christ Jesus died and paid for our sins on the cross and was raised again so that the righteous requirement of the law could be fulfilled in us and that we would receive grace through faith in Christ and live - not by the flesh but by His Spirit - which is a working of God by His Spirit, not our own works by the flesh. We can’t do it on our own, we are helpless and must rely on His grace, His work, His Spirit and not rely on our own flesh, for there is nothing good in our flesh. So when we say to God, “I am helpless to defeat sin without you, thank you for your grace” and trust in Him and His work of grace, we submit to God in the law of the Spirit of grace which produces life, peace, exceeding righteousness and sanctification, and we put to death our flesh which died with our sin when Christ died on the cross. But if we put confidence in our self/flesh we will most certainly fall into sin, no matter how many scripture verses or commandments we have memorized - for Jesus said that our righteousness must exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees (who were experts in the law and yet were condemned under the law) and to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. If that seems impossible - it’s because it is - the point is to highlight your need for a savior and to drive you close to Jesus in order that you might repent and believe and receive grace, and to live by that grace and have victory over sin (you didn’t defeat sin - Christ defeated it for you and gave you the victory) thanks and glory to God!

Here’s my story. I been suffering with lust and porn addiction for a while now it got worse after my 4 year relationship ended several years ago. I truly feel that’s lust has gotten in the way of me advancing in my entrepreneurial journey, now at work there’s this girl who I genuinely like and I feel she does like me as well but sometimes I feel get lustful thoughts about her and I hate it. I want to be loved and I’m coping with porn, now that there’s this girl who I genuinely like I don’t feel like saying anything. Please pray for me if god helps me get rid of this I would like this girl as my wife have a family with her god that’s all I ask from you 🙏🏻

I once told someone that I was waiting till marriage, and they were telling me that it wouldn’t be good, because I would not know what to do, so I said “my future husband and I will learn together”. They still seemed to have a negative view of waiting, but understood my answer.

Advice about stereotypical hard years is not helpful. My late husband and I were married at 23. We were together nearly 22 years and married nearly 16. I lost him 3 years ago. For us, marriage was always our biggest blessing. All the problems we faced came from outside factors and we faced them as a team. We learned early on how to communicate effectively and how to manage conflict in healthy ways. The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman and Gottman's research on conflict in relationships really helped us. But what really made the difference was building our marriage on God's Word and keeping Him at the center of our relationship. I miss him every day. And he loved me so well that I want to be married again and have someone to share the rest of my life with. I miss the beauty of living out a relationship that portrays Jesus and His bride, the Church!
